Abstract: EU practitioners are likely to feel somewhat familiar with the Hong Kong Competition Ordinance as much of it was borrowed from EU law concepts. The Ordinance’s merger regime is limited to the telecommunications sector but is likely to be extended to other industries in the future. Guidelines will soon begin to be drafted by the Hong Kong Competition Commission and it will then be possible to determine how stringently the Ordinance will be applied.
