Prof. Reynold Cheng, Deputy Director of the Law Tech Centre, is named one of the 2023 AI 2000 Most Influential Scholars (Honorable Mention)

The AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Annual List (https://aminer.cn/ai2000) acknowledges outstanding technical achievements with lasting contributions and impact in different domains of artificial intelligence while encouraging the recognition of young and active scholars. It aims to name 2,000 of the world’s top-cited research scholars in the field over this decade (2020-2029). Each year, the top 10 scholars from each domain are named “AI 2000 Most Influential Scholars”, while the top 11 – 100 scholars receive “AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Honourable Mentions”.

Six scholars from HKU’s Faculty of Engineering have been recognised as the 2023 AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar (Honorable Mention) for their exceptional contributions to artificial intelligence between 2013 and 2022.  They are honoured for their research in Database, the Internet of Things, Computer Graphics, AAAI/IJCAI, Computer Vision and Visualization.

Five of the HKU scholars are from the Department of Computer Science. They are Professor Cheng Chun Kong, Professor Taku Komura, Professor Yizhou Yu, Dr Qi Liu and Dr Ping Luo. The sixth scholar is Professor Kaibin Huang from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

HKU congratulates these esteemed scholars for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of artificial intelligence. Their recognition on the AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Annual List exemplifies HKU’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge research and innovation in AI.
